A new round of slipcast wares has just been pulled from the kiln, just in time for the annual Holiday Show at the Eye of the Dog Art Center. I had a small selection of slipcast pieces at Clayfest. They proved to be hugely popular and quickly disappeared. So, if you missed them at Clayfest, be sure to come out to EotD and grab one for yourself.
Holiday show hours:Fri 11/29, 5pm to 9pm; Sat 11/30 10am to 5pm; Sun 12/01 Noon to 4pm

I will be presenting newly discovered Alien Crystal Turtles at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden during this year’s Sculptfest. Pinch Pot Raku Bowl
Participated in a Raku firing at Eye of the Dog last night. First raku I’ve done in almost four, (five?), years.
I made this piece the day I dislocated my shoulder, perhaps as a bit of stubborn therapy to prove I was still functional. Certainly an evening with friends gathered together around a 1800 degree fire was good therapy.
I do miss the immediacy of raku, if not the results. Raku pieces are inherently fragile and of limited use, but are undeniably a great fun to make. There really is little more satisfying than playing with fire.
I imagine being down at Eye of the Dog will result in more raku work. Stay tuned….
Forward, onward, not quite 100% but still smarter, fresher and wiser.
