Much work done over the past couple weeks. Staircase complete. Catwalk mostly complete. Infill studs giving shape to the final layout. ASUL has been fantastic to work with and their efforts look fantastic. The staircase and catwalk will be central features in the finished studio, but we also intend to leave as much of the principal steelwork visible in the finished structure.
A big thanks to Peter, JoLea, Carol, Bob & Gery for coming out for our first work party.
Infill framing. Large 12' x 8' entry to the lower studio will bring in lots of light and tie the 'dirty' studio with the wrap-around deck.
Upper 'clean' studio will have two large 12' x 8' glass walls; one looking out to the East and one looking West into the heart of the studio.
The Steel Spine Staircase.
Staircase detail. C-channel used for steps. The initial plan was to install base plates, then finish the steps with wood. However, we had a lot of C-channel laying about and it really does tie the staircase with the rest of the structure.
Almost a shame we have to put a rail on the stairs...
